Colony Reprise creates a space for contemplation of inherited histories of trauma on the Korean peninsula. My mother reads an English translation of a poem called “Colony” by Ham Dong Seon (b. 1930) while I correct her pronunciation and read along certain lines, that I use to construct my own poem which echoes the structure of the original.
